Memorial Day Singing for Soldiers

There will be a Memorial Day “Singing for Soldiers” held on Monday, May 31, at 6 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Park in Columbus. The event will feature the Jason Camp Family, Green River Boys and Soldiers of the Cross.
Attendees are asked to bring some of the following items, along with a donation to help pay for shipping the items: white socks, toiletries (personal size), lip balm, granola bars, snacks (personal size, non-perishable), bug spray or wipes, gum, candy (that wont melt easily/no chocolate), CDs and DVDs, suntan lotion, powdered drink mixes, batteries and hand sanitizer.
All items and money donated will go to send care packages to our soldiers on active duty in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The Polk County Honor Guard will conduct a special ceremony at 6 p.m. Hot dogs, roasted corn and baked goods will be served from 5 p.m. until.
Items and donations may be dropped off at the WJFJ radio station in Columbus from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The event is co-sponsored by WJFJ Radio 1160, the Town of Columbus, Diversified Home Builders, Strategic Work Systems, Inc., Main Street Financial Group, Chris Carney Landscaping, Fork Creek Baptist Church, Arledge, Inc., and Albright Sanitation.
