Charles Wesley Gibson, 78, of 290 Hatley Dr., Columbus died Monday, May 24, 2010 at his home.

Born in Tellico Plains, Tenn., he was the son of Olivia Ervin Gibson of Etowah, Tenn., and the late Alvin Gibson. He moved to Polk County in 1995 from Charlotte, N.C. Mr. Gibson was a member of the Paw Creek Masonic Lodge, Charlotte, N.C.

Surviving in addition to his mother is a daughter, Joan G. Anderson (Steven) of Ramsey, Ill.; a brother, Curtis Gibson of Atlanta, Ga., and one grandson, Zach Anderson.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2010 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon.

Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus, with Masonic rites by Jeff L. Nelson&bsp; Masonic Lodge #605.

Family to receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday morning just prior to the service in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.
