2010 BMW Pro-Am draws record attendance

The 2010 BMW Charity-Pro Am golf tournament, co-hosted by Brights Creek golf club in Mill Spring, drew a record number of fans for the tournament.
The attendance of 57,000 was up 11,000 from last year and 7,000 from the previous high. It was also more than double the attendance in the first year of the tournament in 2001.
See page 16 for lists showing the attendance, tournament winners and the money raised for each of the 10 years of the tournament. The money raised to benefit organizations throughout the region from this years tournament will be announced at a later date.
A record 99 charities will earn funds from the tournament, including a few from the local area. The list includes local nonprofits FENCE and Friends of Harmon Field. The Hickory Nut Gorge Olympiad is also a beneficiary again this year.
The first nine tournaments have raised nearly $7.3 million for 125+ area charities. The charities selected to benefit from the 2010 tournament are listed online at www.bmwcharitygolf.com.
Justin Hicks was the professional winner of this year’s BMW Charity Pro-Am golf tournament, which included three rounds at Brights Creek golf club in Mill Spring.
Hicks finished the tournament at 20 under par (66, 65, 69, 66).
