Melton officially on ballot

Unaffiliated Polk County Commissioner Tommy Melton, who is up for re-election, is now officially on the November ballot as his signatures were certified by the Polk County Board of Elections Office on Tuesday. Unaffiliated candidates are required to get 587 signatures, or five percent of registered voters, in order to run for office. Melton was certified with 680 signatures. Warren Watson, also an unaffiliated county commissioner up for re-election is also obtaining signatures to file for office. Unaffiliated candidates have until late June to turn in petitions.
