Polk County Schools recently looked to the experience of its current staff to fill the head womens basketball coaching position at Polk County High School.
Craig Culbreth will move from his position as the mens head coach to coach the womens team and Josh McEntire will move from coaching the JV team to be the mens head coach.
Both Culbreth and McEntire, who have extensive coaching experience at the school, provide a good fit for both teams according to administrators.
“I am excited about the opportunity to coach this group of young ladies,” says Culbreth. “With all but three players returning (next year), my expectations are high for a tremendous season.”
“I am ecstatic about the opportunity to be the head men’s varsity coach at Polk County high school,” says McEntire. “It has been a life long dream of mine and I can’t wait to get started working toward building a winning program for years to come.”
According to Jim Patterson, personnel director, following advertising and interviewing potential candidates for the womens coaching position, administrators realized the position could be best filled with the talent among their current coaching staff.
“Craig has coached our mens team for the past two years, in addition to coaching numerous sports for us in the past and Josh has been a coach for us for the past 10 years in numerous capacities,” says Patterson. “Both were excited about the new opportunities to coach these teams.”
