Landrums North Randolph Street sidewalk project has encountered a setback with right of way issues on 15 parcels along the street.
The city is planning a meeting in August with N.Randolph property owners to try to alleviate the issues. City Council met Tuesday and were updated on the project and announced that sometime in August a community meeting will be held at city hall. City administrator Steve Wolochowicz said the meeting will be structured to let property owners know how important the project is for the city and the neighborhood.
Previous plans were for the sidewalk project to begin this spring. Construction will not be able to begin until the rights of way issues are resolved.
Landrum received a S.C. Department of Transportation Enhancement grant last year in the amount of $200,000 to construct sidewalks along as much of N. Randolph Street as possible.
The city will match the grant with $50,000 and Spartanburg County has also granted the city $50,000 for the project.
Plans are for the sidewalk to be installed on the left side of the street going up the N.Randolph hill.
The city will announce later this summer plans for the community meeting.
