Polk County Board of Commissioners proclaim May 9 – 15 Hospital Week

WHEREAS the American Hospital Association has proclaimed May 9 – 15, 2010, as National Hospital Week with the theme Celebrating Health, Hope and Healing; and

WHEREAS St. Lukes Hospitals employees and medical staff have satisfied a commitment to provide high quality, cost-effective, people centered services for Polk County and the surrounding area for 81 years; and

WHEREAS St. Lukes Hospital is one of Polk Countys largest employers with more than 350 employees and a $10 million annual payroll; and

WHEREAS St. Lukes Hospital performed nearly 17,000 outpatient procedures and touched the lives of nearly 12,000 people who utilized the emergency, surgical and acute care; and

WHEREAS St. Lukes Hospitals dedicated employees, physicians and volunteers provide care 24-hours a day, seven days a week and deserve our regard and appreciation for keeping our community healthy;

BE IT KNOWN THAT on this 10th day of May, I, Cindy Walker, Chair, Polk County Board of Commissioners, do hereby declare May 9 – 15, 2010, to be Hospital Week in Columbus, NC, and urge residents to express their appreciation for St. Lukes Hospital, the people, facilities and technologies that make trustworthy, reliable health care possible in our community.
