Polk County Commissioners this week appointed Mike Egan as interim attorney to fill the absence of county attorney Tom Hix.
Hix has been out for a few weeks after suffering a stroke. It is not known when Hix will return.
Commissioners appointed Egan during a meeting on Monday. Egan formerly served as Hendersonvilles attorney and has worked in several capacities. He has been working with Polk County for the past couple of years with the planning board, helping the county draft ordinances.
