Hunter Pace to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters May 2

The third annual Hunter Pace at Caroland Farms for Big Brothers Big Sisters will be held on Sunday May 2, with a rain date of May 9. These trails are marked by Duane and Harlene Harm on private properties that are shared for this event. This ride is a favorite of many riders on the Western Carolina Hunter Pace series.

Many volunteers are preparing for the BBBS Hunter Pace to help make it enjoyable and successful. With plenty of room for parking, well-marked trails with views, professional timing by Joey Cabiness, and a barbecue lunch prepared by Harry Denton, this Hunter Pace offers the opportunity to enjoy a pleasant ride while helping support a charitable cause.

Big Brothers Big Sisters has matched over one hundred Littles with volunteer Bigs in area schools and communities in Polk County and Landrum. The benefits to these children include improved self-esteem, behaviors and school performance, and lessened likelihood of youth drug and alcohol use.

Big Brothers Big Sisters depends on the generosity of area citizens to provide financial support to sustain their unique mentoring services for children. Fundraising events such as this Hunter Pace help BBBS offer these special friendships at no cost to at-risk children, children from single-parent families, and students who need a little extra attention in elementary school.
