The two runs Polk scored in the top of the first inning Friday were all it needed to come away with a win over Mitchell.
Polk Countys pitching and defense never gave Mitchell a chance to catch up, holding Mitchell both hitless in an 8-0 rout.
Jamie Hrobak got the win, striking out 11 and allowing just one base runner on a walk over five innings. Polk did not allow a hit over the final three innings either, and finished the game without an error.
Meanwhile, Polk had no trouble getting runners on base and bringing them around to score. The Lady Wolverines finished with 11 hits and runs came in pairs throughout the night. Polk scored two runs in the first, second, fourth and sixth innings.
Alyssa Montgomery led the hit parade with three and added two runs and two RBIs. Nikkie Williams had two hits and two RBIs, and Cassic Couch had two hits, an RBI and a run.
Polk is scheduled to play today in Western Highlands Conference action at Avery.
