Polk County Emergency Services and the sheriffs office responded to a Green Creek home yesterday morning where a 13-year-old boy was found dead.
The exact cause of death is not known, but investigators say the boy was suffering from strep throat and that complications from medicine could have caused the death.
The sheriffs office is sending the boy’s body to the N.C. State Medical Examiners Office in Winston Salem for an autopsy.
Det. Tracy Aldridge with the sheriffs office said the boy was found this morning and his office responded to the Hwy. 9 South home in Green Creek.
He was a student at Polk County Middle School. The boys name has not yet been released and school officials were unavailable for comment as of press time yesterday.
