Positive letter on water drew distorted response

To the Editor:

Mrs. (Renee) McDermott, in her article in the TDB on April 14th, took an article I had in the TDB on April 7th and distorted it by saying I had things in it that I didnt!

The truth is there were none of the items she wrote about in my article. (Maybe it was a figment of imagination.) I did not mention revenue-neutral, cuts of any kind, public works commitees (I would like to make it clear that no on on that committee acted in an arrogant manner. They spoke up for the governments they represented, as they should have). There was not mention of water installation policy. Again, the fact is that the present policy the county now has is modeled after what the participants paid on the ill-advised Silver Creek line.

Mrs. McDermott wrote that big Republicans benefitted from this installation. This is not true. The couple is registered Unaffiliated and their family background is Democrat.

Folks, the truth is that the article I wrote (about the need for water) was to be positive, encouraging and a caution about about what could happen to our water resources if we let our guard down, and that is all!

I would hope all citizens of Polk County would be concerned about this.

God bless the USA and God bless Polk County.
