Slow Down/No Need 2 Speed violations

Law enforcement officers in Polk County cited motorists for a total of 121 traffic and criminal violations during the states recent Slow Down/No Need 2 Speed operation. Polk County had 15 checkpoints and recorded 47 speeding violations, 14 safety belt violations, four child passenger safety violations, six driving while licence revoked charges, three uninsured motorists and one reckless driving charge. The county also cited motorists for five drug violations, three DWI charges, one fugitive arrest, and three other criminal violations. Statewide nearly 16,0000 motorists were cited for speeding during the week of March 29 to April 4. A total of 61,766 traffic and criminal citations were issued statewide. Law enforcement officers in North Carolina also apprehended 379 fugitives and recovered 42 stolen vehicles.
