A Landrum woman was murdered Tuesday afternoon outside a doctors office in downtown Spartanburg and investigators are searching for her son-in-law, the suspected killer.
Kenneth Ray Moore, 37, is being accused of fatally shooting Fay Fagan, 58, and kidnapping her daughter, Denise Fagan, 36, around 3:20 p.m. Tuesday. Investigators say they are trying to unravel the bizarre accounts that have been ongoing for a couple of weeks with “twists and turns.”
Moore remained at large as of yesterday afternoon and police have offered a $3,000 reward for information leading to Moores arrest.
Since March 24, Spartanburg County investigators have been looking into the case that began with Moore filing a report claiming Denise Fagan was trying to poison him. Moore was a patient at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center when he filed the report. Then on Sunday, a suspicious fire broke out at Moore and Fagans home.
Moores family members pleaded on television Wednesday for Moore to turn himself in.
Public Safety Captain Randy Hardy said his plea to Moore would be to turn himself in because officials do not want to see anyone else get hurt and they would like to hear Moores side of the story.
According to Moores incident report regarding his claims of being poisoned, Denise Fagan brought Moore food and beverage to the hospital and hospital staff reported Moore had hallucinations after consuming the food and drinks and those hallucinations stopped after a doctor prohibited outside food and drink.
Denise Fagan told police she escaped her husband a few blocks from Tuesdays shooting, got a ride to their home and called a minister and Moores mother, who took her to the hospital.
Sundays fire remains under investigation, with the Whitney, S.C. Fire Department deeming the fire suspicious after the initial investigation. County fire investigators haven taken samples for processing.
