Glenn Rhodes

Glenn Marion Rhodes, 57, husband of Rebecca Staton Rhodes of Hwy. 108, Mill Spring, died Friday, March 19, 2010.

Born in Tryon, he was the son of Jeanette Arledge Rhodes of Saluda and the late Tollie Marion Rhodes. Glenn was a graduate of Western Carolina University, receiving his B.S. in history and secondary education. He had a long history of working with local governments in Western North Carolina, and had spent 20 years as the economic/community development coordinator with the Isothermal Planning and Development Commission.&bsp; He had also been a town manager for the towns of Tryon and Columbus in Polk County. In 2006 he joined the NC Dept. of Commerce Division of Community Assistance, Western Regional Office, Asheville, N.C. He was of the Baptist faith. &bsp;

Surviving beside his wife and mother are: a sister, Jane R.&bsp; McDermott (John) of Naples, Fla.; two brothers, Gerald and Paul Rhodes, both of Saluda; three aunts, Virginia Mills and Harriett Case (Delbert), both of Columbus, and Clyde Henson (Albert) of Tryon; mother-in-law Louise Staton of Saluda and sister-in-law Suzanne Bane of Hendersonville, N.C.. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 25, 2010 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, with Rev. Lloyd Howard and William Mills officiating.

Family to receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday , March 24 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.
