Polks Relay for Life held April 30

The American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Polk County will be held on Friday, April 30, at Polk County High School football stadium. The community effort to fight cancer begins at 5 pm with activities and local entertainment continuing until midnight. The 2010 Relay for Life of Polk County chairpersons are Xan Morse and Pete Crandall. This year the event theme is Celebrating A World With More Birthdays.

The American Cancer Society Relay for Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in your community a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. At Relay, teams join together to raise funds for the fight against cancer. Thanks to Relay participants, the American Cancer Society continues to save lives. Funds raised aid in research, education, local programs and services along with advocacy.

Relay for Life is more than just a fundraiser. Its a life-changing experience. At Relay, every person in the community has a chance to celebrate, remember, and fight back. And every person who participates joins others around the globe as part of this worldwide movement to end cancer.

The public is also invited to take part in the family-oriented Relay for Life experience on Friday, April 30. The event begins at 5 p.m. with the opening ceremonies at 6 p.m. with the Survivors Lap at 6:15 p.m. and ends with a 12 a.m.closing ceremony.
