Polk hosts 15th Tony Waldrop Invitational

Polk County High School hosted the 15th annual Tony Waldrop Invitational Friday, March 5. Seven area schools: Asheville, Crest, East Henderson, Hendersonville, Landrum, Polk, and RS Central competed in events all hoping to achieve state qualifying marks or gain experience in the first meet of the 2010 outdoor track season. (SQ) indicates athletes who met state qualifying standards.

Two Polk County indoor track prep stars will attend the National Scholastic Indoor Championships at New York, New York this Saturday and Sunday, March 13-14. Polks John Spencer Wolfe will race in the Mens 800 Meter Dash competition and Bryan Lieberman will compete in the Mens Pole Vault. Donations to cover travel and meal expenses for these two athletes are tax deductible and may be made to Coach Alan Peoples or Coach Jenny Wolfe at Polk County High School 828-894-2525. The Wolverines will be back in action on Friday, March 19 when they host the Wolverine Co-Ed Invitational; 4:00 start time for field events, with running events to follow on a rolling schedule.
