Polk County High School began its Relay for Life fundraising with a special assembly on Wednesday, March 3 in the schools auditorium. The students and staff have chosen the theme of A World With More Birthdays, and utilized the assembly to present this years class challenges for raising their goal of $6,000 for the event.
If the school reaches that goal, Principal Aaron Greene has agreed to shave his head. The school will also hold numerous activities that include birthday and baked food sales, a soccer tournament in April and Relay pencils, ribbons, pens and bracelets sales until the Polk County Relay For Life event to be held April 30 at the school.
Life Skills teacher Susan Bowman is the teams captain this year and says that her foods classes are working hard to raise money with bake sales. Students are also hitting the streets to ask for sponsors from local businesses.
