Area musicians and a restaurant owner are pulling together to organize an afternoon of music, and fund raising events to assist The American Red Cross with their relief efforts in Haiti.
The event, organized by Norm Cole (Country Spirit Band), Joel Teague (Soap & Whiskey), and Pam Johnson (owner of Elmos Pub), in cooperation with The Polk County Chapter of The American Red Cross, will be held at Elmos Pub in Tryon on Sunday, March 14 beginning at 3 p.m. Contact Cole for advance ticket info at 828-625-1864 or cole363@gmail.com.
More than six weeks have passed since the earthquake disaster in Haiti, and it is no longer the top story on the evening news, but their needs are tremendous and surely will be for a long time to come.
The public is invited to attend this event. It will be an afternoon with a wide variety of music provided by local musicians such as: Soap & Whiskey, Winky & Red Dog, Dana Bergman, Country Spirit Band and Brickyard Sally. There will also be several prizes being raffled throughout the afternoon, including a new 32″ LCD TV.
All proceeds from ticket sales, raffles and possibly an auction along with a portion of sales at the pub will be donated to the Polk County Chapter of The American Red Cross for use in their Haiti relief efforts.
Any merchants willing to donate merchandise for the raffles will be announced throughout the afternoon, and thanked in a letter in TDB after the event.
