To the Editor:

I congratulate the members of the Columbus Town Council who in 2003 had the vision to regulate the tall signs with their sign ordinance.

I also congratulate the current members of their council for being willing to enforce this ordinance. The six-year moratorium for the owners to comply seems to have been more than reasonable.

The Town of Columbus will benefit, as will the entire region, by the removal of these advertising behemoths. Now lets hope someone can persuade the McDonalds owner to voluntarily remove the stump containing the electronic scrolling sign to further enhance Columbus entrance.
