The Town of Tryon began looking at ways to save money next fiscal year with options discussed during the Tryon Town Council’s recent retreat.
Tryon Town Council met for two days last weekend and came up with a long list of goals for the next fiscal year. Some money-saving options discussed included having the town contract out recycling and possibly other garbage services. The council also discussed sharing equipment and personnel costs and purchasing in bulk with other area municipalities and Polk County.
The future of the Harmon Field community center was another topic. Some discussion was had concerning more opportunities for area youth with the former Tryon Middle School building being used for a recreational center. The town has agreed to sell the building to Tryon Arts and Crafts, but due to state requirements associated with the grant used to buy the building, the town could look at other options.
