Landrum High honors two outstanding runners

Caroline Cann has had success in both volleyball and in track during her athletic career while at Landrum. In her four years as a member of the school’s volleyball team, she has lead the team to three state championships. In her senior year she had 307 kills with 42 aces.
Cann has received six state championship rings while at Landrum — 3 in volleyball and 3 in track. Her rings for track include back to back state championships in the 4 by 800 meter relay and a state championship in the 800 meters.
Cann is a senior at Landrum who aims for a repeat win on the Cardinal’s 4 by 800 meter relay team this spring. Cann has received a scholarship from Presbyterian College to continue has volleyball career.
Samantha Waters who is a freshman at Landrum High School has been a dominate competitor in cross country. She was the 2009 Herald Journal runner of the year, the All-State Class A Runner of the year.
Waters has been a 2-time All Region selection and a 2-time All State. She was the leading runner on Landrum’s 2009 Class A-AA championship cross country team. In addition, she was a state champion in the 4 by 800 member.
Waters hold school records as a member of the 4 by 800 meter relay, the 1600 meter run, the 3200 meter run and the 5-K run.
Samantha Waters is only a freshman.
