YouTheatre will hold auditions for the upcoming spring show, School House Rock Live! onstage March 10 March 21.&bsp; The auditions will take place on Saturday, January 16 and Sunday, January 17 from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on both days.

The musical is based on the Emmy Award-winning Saturday morning cartoon series that taught history, grammar, math, science and politics through clever songs.

The fast-paced, high-energy story follows a nervous school teacher who is anxious about starting the first day of teaching. While watching TV, characters representing different facets of the teachers personality materialize from the set. The teacher realizes these characters could help students learn with imagination and music. Featuring favorite Schoolhouse Rock songs such as Just a Bill, Lolly, Lolly, Lolly and Conjunction Junction.

This show offers roles for males and females from 4th grade to 12th grade.&bsp; All who audition will be asked to prepare a short song and bring their own sheet music – an accompanist will be provided.&bsp; Those who do not have sheet music will be asked to sing a cappella.

Everyone will be asked to learn a short, group dance combination on the day of the audition, so please bring either jazz shoes, ballet slippers, or lace-up tennis shoes and wear clothes for easy movement.

As a bonus, on Tuesday, January 12 there will be a free audition workshop at the YouTheatre from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. While this workshop will not influence casting, it is a great opportunity to learn about the show, review character breakdowns, hear songs selections and begin to learn a dance routine from the show.

The workshop and auditions will take place in the Blue Room of the YouTheatre Education Center which is located at 1855 Little River Road, up the hill from the Playhouse.&bsp; Contact the education page of their website at www.flatrockplayhouse.org or call 828-693-3517 for more information.
