The New Year holiday weekend was slow in Polk County for local law enforcement.

No major incidences occurred over the weekend.

The Tryon Police Department had no incidences on New Years Eve, with only two driving while impaired charges being issued over the Christmas holidays between Dec. 22 and Dec. 26.

The Columbus Police Department held a checkpoint New Years Eve, with no major incidents.

The Polk County Sheriffs Office also had no major arrests on New Years Eve, but did arrest a fugitive following a foot chase on New Years night.
