Polk Republicans assess damage after collapse of HQ roof

Polk County Republican Party officials are currently seeking a temporary location to hold meetings following the collapse last week of the roof of the headquarters building in Columbus. The roof fell into the building after the area received a snowfall of about six inches. Republican chair Cheryl Every says an engineer from the insurance company is expected to visit on Monday to assess the damage. Every says the building had not had any previous roof issues and the collapse was a total surprise. The building, the former Columbus Post Office, was given to the Republican party many years ago as a gift. (photo by Leah Justice)
