Claude Dee Rogers
Claude Dee Rogers, 87, of Kingsport, TN passed away Wednesday evening, December 23, 2009 in Smith Phayer Hospice House, Landrum, SC.
Born in the Big Springs Community of Hancock County, TN he was the son of the late Thomas Jefferson&bsp; and Lana Horton Rogers.&bsp; Mr. Rogers was a member of the Masonic Lodge #688 in Kingsport, TN.&bsp; Claude retired from Little Construction Company at Tennessee Eastman Kodak Company.&bsp; He was a master carpenter and an avid sports fan and&bsp; loved to sing old time shaped note gospel music, singing with numerous quartets. He enjoyed sharing the gospel by singing a song to anyone and everyone he visited.
Surviving is his wife of 65 years, Anna Ruth Frazier Rogers of the home; two daughters, Margaret Lawson Hogan&bsp; (Dave) of Jonesboro, TN and Leta Rogers Scruggs (Bob) of Tryon, NC; two brothers, M.C. Rogers (Evalena) of Surgonsville, TN; T. J. Rogers (Wanda) of Rogersville, TN.; one sister Elizabeth Watts of Kingsport, TN., a special sister-in-law Lucille Daughterty of Euless, TX.&bsp; Also surviving are 3 grandchildren, Aaron Ray Lawson (Leslie) of Canton, NC, Jennifer Lawson Picard (Herman) of South Hadley, MA., and Gina Hogan Edwards (Mark) of Tallahassee, FL;&bsp; 2 great-grandchildren,&bsp; Sarah Elaine Picard and Mackenzie Renae Lawson. He is also survived by his special nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday December 27, 2009 in the&bsp;&bsp; Carter-Trent Funeral Chapel in Kingsport, TN&bsp; with&bsp; Rev. A.J. Lane officiating.
Nephews and great nephews will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday just prior to the service in the Carter-Trent Funeral Chapel.
Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Kingsport, TN. with Masonic Rites.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 130 Forest Glen Dr., Columbus, NC&bsp; 28722.
