Betty Zane Wike Stephens, 76, of Tryon died December 27, 2009 at her home.

She was the daughter of the late Jasper and Ethel Martin Wike and wife of the late George A. Stephens.

Mrs. Stephens was a member of Columbus United Methodist Church, devoted wife, mother and avid gardener.&bsp; She took extraordinary pride in the accomplishments of her husband and all her family.

She is survived by a son, Zane Stephens (Beth) of Youngsville, NC; three daughters, Alisha Jarnagin (Kurt) of San Mateo, CA, Anita Williamson, Green Creek, NC, Allyson McNeill (Darryl), Youngsville, NC; two sisters, Jeannine Baker of Stoney Point, NC, Lovell Waugh of Charleston, SC; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A candlelight service will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 6 p.m. at Petty Funeral Home conducted by Robert Seigler.&bsp; Visitation will follow after the service.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills 130 Forest Glen Drive Columbus, NC&bsp; 28722.
