Tryon home destroyed in fire

A fire on Tuesday afternoon completely destroyed a home on Warrior Drive in Tryon.
The residents of the house the Leidheiser family were not home at the time of the fire, but two dogs and two cats were lost in the blaze.
The Tryon Fire Department reports that it was dispatched at 1:04 p.m. Tuesday after a passing motorist called in that smoke was coming from the roof at 1470 Warrior Drive.
Those living in the home included grandparents Robert and Frances, parents William and Tracey and children Anna and Conrad.
Tryon Fire Chief Joey Davis says he and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office are still investigating the fire, and a cause has not yet been determined.
The Tryon Fire Department was assisted by Columbus, Saluda and Landrum fire departments on Tuesday. The fire was cleared by departments at 7:16 p.m. Tuesday.
