Some Saluda residents’ vehicles were broken into when they were in their own yards last month.
Saluda Police Chief Jim Cantrell told city commissioners last week that 11 cars were broken into on Nov. 23 and 26. Items stolen from the vehicles included cell phones, cash, laptops and a GPS unit.
Cantrell says his department has arrested three individuals, one a juvenile.
None of the vehicles was locked, and all were located on the residents properties on several Saluda streets, Cantrell said.
Cantrell says officers Charles Conner and Jeff Massey worked the case and solved it by matching a shoe. One of the victims came outside while a break-in was occurring and when the suspects ran away one of them lost a shoe. Officers visited homes and asked Saluda parents to check whether their child had a shoe that matched.
