Don C. Freeman

Don Clair Freeman, 86, of Warrior Drive, Tryon died Wednesday, December 16,&bsp; 2009 in Smith Phayer Hospice House in Landrum.

Born in Detroit, Mich., he was the son of the late Lloyd Lorne and Mary Frances McGrory Freeman. He was a veteran of WWII, having served in the U.S. Army in the 4th Armored Division. Mr. Freeman was a graduate of Harvard College in Cambridge, Mass., and later received a law degree from Cleveland Marshall Law School in Cleveland, Ohio.&bsp; Don was a tax attorney for 30 years before retiring and moving to Tryon in 1978. He also lived part time in Sanibel Island, Fla.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Betsy Freeman; two daughters, Claire Paul (Ken) of Columbus, Ohio, and Tracey Beaver (Keith) of Fairfax, Va.; one son, Eric Freeman of Tryon.&bsp; Also surviving are two grandchildren, Dylan and Megan Paul of Columbus, Ohio, and one great- grandchild, Hadley Paul.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2009 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Ralph Kuether officiating.
