Dr. Dan Eichenbaum of Cherokee County is the latest person to announce a campaign for the 11th Congressional District seat currently held by Democrat Heath Shuler. The former Libertarian Party activist says he has the support of 9/12 and Tea Party activists in the district who want to see greater fiscal responsibility. Eichenbaum is the fifth Republican to announce a run for the seat. Others who announced are Hendersonville Mayor Greg Newman, Haywood County resident Scott Stump, Asheville attorney Ed Krause and Hayesville Insurance agent Kenny West.
