Former Polk County Sheriffs Officer Josh Denton appeared in Polk County Superior Court Monday and requested a public defender after attorney Stephen Lindsay requested to be removed from the case. Denton has appealed his conviction on charges of misdemeanor assault on a female earlier this year. He was convicted of excessively tasing Allison Howard, who was in Polks custody. Dentons next court appearance is set for Feb. 15.
