The Lady Wolverines basketball machine is one of speed and player rotation and with head coach Mitch Davis at the helm, 2009-2010 could prove to be an interesting season.Three key cogs are returning for senior campaigns: Latoya Twitty, Sammy Mazzilli, and Haley Price. Davis describes this group as hard-working and coachable, and each has significant minutes on the court in years past.Twitty has quickness to spare, Mazzilli has a penchant for the boards, and Price weilds what Davis refers to as the best set shot on the team.A starting rotation is not set in stone on this scheme, so a boon to this team will be its size. The ability of Mazzilli and the height of Kailey Russell, Melinda Morgan and Jamie Hrobak will allow the employment of multiple defensive looks, and Brittany Phipps stands in at 59 at guard. The other guards Davis calls scrappy and they will provide a complementary competitive edge out top and on breaks. This group includes Alyssa Montgomery, Taylor Collins, Ashley Lynch and Emily McFalls. The team has already shown in its first two games that it can be a force inside and on the boards with its size. The Lady Wolverines will try to use that and their overall team play to compete this year in the 2A Western Highlands Conference.
