Additional parking area planned at Sunny View School

Sunny View School expects to gain some much needed additional parking thanks to the Sunny View Fire Department.
The fire department has offered the school district 1.5 acres next to the school for $1 a year.
The offer saves the school district considerable money that would be needed to buy land. Instead, the district can use that money to create the additional parking area.
Polk County Schools Supt. Bill Miller says work is being done to survey the land, determine a design for the parking lot and establish an estimated cost.
Miller adds that Paul Ruff, who is a member of the Sunny View Fire Department and a grandparent of Sunny View School students, has agreed to provide the labor for the grading and graveling, leaving primarily just the cost of the gravel.
The cost for asphalt won’t be known until a lot design is complete.
