A company that issues a statement saying it is committed to equal employment and equal educational opportunities for all does not mean that they do not in fact have legal recourse to fire certain individuals based on sexual orientation or gender identity since EOE statements themselves are not legally binding.

If someone is fired because of gender identity or sexual orientation, they have no legal recourse in many states across&bsp; the US. It makes perfect sense to make the whole of EOE statements firmly established and upheld by law not dependent on the whim of or change in management.

The law that would do this is the Employment Non-Discrimination Act H.R. 3017 (ENDA).
