The McDonalds located in Columbus recently opened its doors and drive up window to teachers and staff of Polk Central Elementary to work alongside its employees during a McTeacher Night fundraiser for the school.
Students and parents enjoyed an evening of food and fun as they watched their teachers and principal Dottie Kinlaw cook, take and deliver orders, and provide top-notch hospitality while the school raised much-needed funds for field trips and enrichment learning activities.
The parental support at McTeacher night was phenomenal, says Kelleigh Powell, one of the schools first grade teachers, who hung out the drive up window taking and delivering orders during the McTeacher Night. It was amazing to see how many families came out to support our school.
Principal Kinlaw agrees that the night was successful for many reasons. Everyone had a good time and we all learned a new appreciation for how hard the McDonalds folks work, she says.
