Two auctions at the Upstairs Artspace reach an exciting climax on Saturday, November 7. The 4th annual Silent Art Auction continues this week with people placing bids on the 100 works of fine art and craft. Final bids must be made by 5 p.m. on Saturday.
As soon as bids close on the silent auction, a live auction of 15 carefully selected works will take place. Auctioneer Bill Jones will bring professional experience and humor to the proceedings.
The live auction art is on view in a small gallery facing Trade Street. If someone cant attend the live auction but wants to bid on a piece of art, they can leave an absentee bid with gallery staff. These bids will be strictly confidential.
The live auction features some of the regions best-known artists, including Bonnie Bardos, Patricia Cole-Ferullo, Margaret Davis, Linda Hudgins, Dale McEntire and B. J. Precourt. Theres also a complete set of Chevalier Tuckers popular Seasons prints.
Co-chairmen James Blanton and Gary Corn say they are impressed with the quality of art in the auctions. Its a great example of how people give in order to make the community a better place, says Corn, referring to the donations of art. Along with Art Trek Tryon, the auctions are a major fund-raiser for the nonprofit arts organization.
The Saluda Inn will serve wine and appetizers during the final bidding Saturday, starting around 4 p.m. We invite everyone to join in the fun and go home with a wonderful piece of art, says Corn.
