PC Historical Association presents census program

On Tuesday, November 3 at 2:30 p.m. at the Museum, 60 Walker Street in Columbus, James Metcalf will present a program about Polk Countys Historical Census.
Metcalf will start back before Polk County was incorporated in 1855 and move on to show how the county changed during the years of 1860 through 1890 from an agricultural area to more of a resort area with the coming of the railroad.
In 1860, local merchants were listed as well as county employees. The census of 1910 listed both union and confederate veterans.
Come and listen to some historical facts that will not be on the list of questions asked in the upcoming 2010 census. Everyone is welcome.
Any questions, contact Kathy Taft at 828-894-5469.
