Downtown Landrum will be dressed with decorative crosswalks soon.
Landrum City Council met last week and announced that the decorative crosswalks downtown were scheduled to be installed last week but rainy weather put the project on hold.
The city decided recently to install decorative crosswalks that will appear as bricks in eight locations downtown.
Landrum City Administrator Steve Wolochowicz said the project will cost the city approximately $18,000.
The process will include heating up the existing surface of asphalt and stamping a red brick color onto the pavement. The decoration will then have four layers of protective covering and thermoplast on each one. The surface will last for approximately five years, Wolochowicz said.
The contractors, out of Charlotte, say they will need three days of dry weather to install the crosswalks.
