He was the husband of Betty &dquo;Liz&dquo; McNevins, who died in 2006. He was a veteran of WWII and a retired executive of the food packaging and paper industries.

Survivors include two daughters, Sara English of Greer, S.C., and Lisa Palmer of Tryon; and three grandchildren.
