Cardinals host Southside for Homecoming 2009

The Landrum Cardinals will try to add another big region win to the festivities tonight when they celebrate Homecoming 2009.

Landrum resumes region play tonight against Southside Christian after getting edged last week at Ninety Six, 23-17.&bsp; Landrum led at the half, but couldn&squo;t get on the board again in the final two quarters.

They face a Sabres squad tonight that has been outscored by nearly nine points per contest. Southside, 2-4 overall and 0-2 in Region II-A, has managed to score about 16 points per game, while surrenduring 25.

In contrast, Landrum, 3-4 overall and 1-0 in the region, has had a much more potent offense, averaging 22.6 points per game, while its defense has allowed 18.7.

Southside barely edged Dixie 7-6 for its first win and then defeated Thomas Jefferson in week four for its second win. The Sabres lost last week 26-20 at Whitmire, a team that Landrum shut out two weeks ago, 27-0.
