Saluda City Council approved on Monday applying for a piece of artillery for its veteran&squo;s park from the military.
Commissioners reviewed pictures of some items that may be available to place in the park and decided to apply to get a full list of the military inventory.
Council is considering placing a piece of military equipment in its veteran&squo;s park, located downtown, to honor veterans. During council&squo;s last meeting when the issue was first brought up, some residents were split on whether or not a gun was appropriate for downtown Saluda.
Commissioners said they would make a definite decision on the issue once the military reveals what is available.
Commissioners have said the artillery cannot be too large for the city&squo;s small park.
Saluda can request what piece of equipment it desires for the park but it will be up to the military to send what is available, commissioners said Monday.
