Recently, Polk, Rutherford and Cleveland counties in North Carolina and Cherokee and Spartanburg counties in South Carolina have been experiencing thefts of farm equipment, mainly tractors.

On Thursday, Sept. 10, Polk County investigators learned that an auction company in Hazelhurst, Ga., was auctioning off some of these stolen tractors. A tractor belonging to a victim in Sunny View was located on the auction company&39;s website.

Investigators from Polk County Sheriff&squo;s Office contacted Hazelhurst, Ga., detectives and as of last week were enroute to Georgia to meet with them. They will be checking serial numbers on several pieces of equipment in an attempt to locate any other stolen items.
