Martha Dobson Murphy

Born July 31, 1924 in Gaffney, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Raymond A Dobson and Daisy Daniel Dobson and the widow of the late Wallace Sims Murphy , of Charleston, S.C.

Mrs. Murphy was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and worked as a laboratory technician before having children. She was a life master duplicate bridge player and a member of the Tryon First Baptist Church.&bsp; &bsp;

Surviving are her sons, Raymond Lockwood Murphy and wife Nancy Jane Murphy of Mt Pleasant, S.C., William Radcliffe Murphy of Tryon, Richard Wallace Murphy and wife Angela&bsp; Sightler Murphy, her daughter, Alice Murphy Prince and husband Marcus Brown Prince IV of Tryon. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Patricia Murphy Drane, Raymond Lockwood Murphy Jr, Timothy Dobson Murphy, Amanda Michelle Murphy, Sarah Elizabeth Prince, Emily Massey Prince, and Mary Elizabeth Prince.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, Aug. 6 at 2 p.m.at Oakland Cemetery, 700 College St., Gaffney, S.C., with the Rev Raymond E. Ashmore presiding.
