The upgrades began in April, mostly with work inside the building. The renovation is scheduled to be complete in April, 2010.

The town financed this year $3 million to do a complete renovation of its water plant that first went online in 1988. The upgrades will allow the town to process mountain water as well as water from its current sole water source, Lake Lanier.

Water Plant Supervisor Betty Jones says the renovations are needed for the plant to meet future regulations and to update the plant&squo;s treatment process.
