Master in Equity Gordon Cooper ruled Wednesday that all weddings at Spiegel Farms must cease on Dec. 20, 2009.

Spiegel has weddings planned through the end of this year with the last being on Dec. 19.

A court hearing was held Wednesday to determine if a temporary injunction filed in June would be made permanent following a lawsuit against Spiegel by the homeowners&squo; association, Wendswept. Wendswept claimed that commercial activities on Spiegel&squo;s 62-acre farm were against the development&squo;s covenants.

The court fined Spiegel $2,500 last week for hosting weddings after the temporary injunction was filed. Spiegel said she thought she was okay to hold weddings because she hadn&squo;t been served with the temporary injunction and she refunded the brides&39; money for the weddings.

Several brides attended the hearing Wednesday and expressed relief that their weddings could continue as planned.

Wendswept attorney Sean Cobourn said the homeowners&squo;s association never wanted to harm the brides and the ruling Wednesday was fair.

Spiegel was unable to be reached by press time.

Spiegel previously said without the business she would go bankrupt. She has hosted about 350 weddings in the past nine years of business.
