Deadline Friday to file for Tryon, Columbus, Saluda elections

Seth Davis is the latest to file for one of two open seats on the Tryon Town Council. He joined Doug Arbogast, who also filed for a council seat in Tryon. Incumbent Tryon Mayor Alan Peoples filed for re-election. So far, no candidate in Tryon has a challenger. Neither Dennis Durham nor Jim Scott, current Tryon Town Council members who are up for re-election, had filed as of noon yesterday.
Eric McIntyre is the most recent candidate to file in Columbus; he filed to run against incumbent Mayor Kathleen McMillian. So far, Ernie Kan is the only challenger facing incumbent town council members Michael Gage, Ricky McCallister and Margaret Metcalf.
In Saluda all incumbents have filed, including current mayor Rodney Gibson and council members Johnnie Kinard and Laura Fields. So far, Gibson will be challenged by Fred Baisden and council incumbents will be challenged by George Sweet and William H. &dquo;Hop&dquo; Foster.
This year&squo;s municipal election will be held Nov. 3.
