Miss S.C. contestants visit Landrum during pageant week

A total of 45 Miss South Carolina and 33 Miss South Carolina Teen contestants participated in this year&squo;s pageants.
While in Landrum the contestants wore white Landrum T-shirts supplied to them by the City of Landrum.
The city reported that The Miss South Carolina and local pageants across make available over $10 million dollars in cash and tuition scholarships annually in the state, making South Carolina number one in the Miss America Organization&squo;s Scholarship Program. Each year, tens of thousands of Miss America volunteers generate more than 500,000 hours of service to over 12,000 community service projects making Miss America one of the strongest service organizations in the country.
On Saturday this year&squo;s pageant winners were announced at Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium. Miss Hartsville Kelly Annette Sloan was named the 2009 Miss South Carolina. Miss Laurens County Teen Ali Rogers was announced as this year&squo;s Miss South Carolina Teen.
Sloan won $15,000 in scholarships and will compete in the Miss America Pageant in Las Vegas in January. Rogers will receive a $5,000 savings bond and compete in August in the Miss America&squo;s Outstanding Teen Competition.
