Market Place: Grand opening for Saluda Tailgate Market

A new tailgate market opened last Friday, July 3, and will be held Fridays from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the new municipal parking lot in Saluda. The Saluda Tailgate Market is sponsored by the Saluda Business Association in conjunction with the Polk County Office of Agricultural Economic Development. The market will feature local fresh vegetables, including freshly picked corn and tomatoes, and baked goods. To assure top quality produce, the Saluda Tailgate Market is open by application to both Polk and Henderson County farmers. For additional information contact Shelly DeKay at 749-9615.

Carolina Foothills Chamber of Commerce has announced that the new &dquo;Coupons for the Foothills&dquo; coupon book is now available to the general public. &bsp;
This first issue contains 94 coupons with a value of $1,500&bsp; and sells for only $10. The coupon books are now available at the chamber and are being distributed to retailers who participated in the book. &bsp;
To date, you can go purchase your book at the News Leader, Macon Bank, Larkin&squo;s Carolina Grill, Watson&squo;s Flooring and Appliances, Office Equipment Company Office Supplies, Tryon Mountain Hardware, Carolina First Bank, Saluda Wine and Cheese Market, and other locations which will be announced soon. &bsp;

Linda Barton, a family nurse practitioner (FNP),&bsp; has joined the staff of the Saluda Medical Center and will be one of the primary providers there, the management announced.
Barton, who has worked at the Saluda center in the past, received her registered nurse&squo;s degree in 1996 and her FNP degree from Western Carolina University in 2002. A family nurse practitioner is a registered nurse with the advanced education and the clinical competency necessary to deliver primary health care to patients of all ages.

Ozone Water Technologies, Inc., a manufacturer of commercial ozone laundry systems, announces the addition of Lynn Turner to its staff. Lynn was recently named sales and marketing manager for OWT, and will coordinate the company&squo;s sales and marketing efforts from its corporate office in Tryon. She is working closely with company president and founder Jim Gross, along with operations manager Phil Points and technical director Robert Spradley. &bsp;

An exhibit of new work by William Martin Jean opens at the Silver Fox Gallery at 508 N. Main Street in Hendersonville on Friday, July 10, with a reception for the artist from 6 to 8 p.m.&bsp; The exhibit continues through July 31.
At 7 p.m., the artist will lecture on the topic &dquo;The Importance of Art in Setting the Stage for Life.&dquo;
Jean is an active painter, teacher and arts administrator in Cleveland, Ohio. He is the founder and director of City Artists at Work, a grass roots organization that helps to promote the Superior/St. Clair area where many Cleveland artists live and work. He served as the director of continuing education for the Cleveland Institute of Art from 1987 until 2004.
