Justin HembreeTryon Town Council held special meetings this week regarding the budget and approved Hembree&squo;s hire.

Council approved a salary of $85,800 per year for Hembree that includes $400 per month for travel.

&dquo;After a process that&39;s taken over a year, we finally have the right person for the job,&dquo; Tryon Mayor Alan Peoples said.

Peoples says Hembree&squo;s attributes for the town are his ability to work with budgets and his communication skills in being able to get along with people.

Hembree was hired as the town&squo;s interim manager in January with the town taking applications for a permanent manager. Most of Hembree&squo;s employment in the past few months has been putting together the fiscal year 2009-2010 budget, which council approved yesterday.

Hembree says he&squo;s enjoyed his time so far with Tryon.

&dquo;I&squo;ve enjoyed my six plus months here and look forward to being here on a permanent basis,&dquo; Hembree said. &dquo;I&squo;m honored the commissioners chose me.&dquo;

Town council has not yet worked out some specifics in a contract for Hembree nor a time frame of a contract. Those details are scheduled to be worked out during council&squo;s next meeting in August. Tryon will not meet this month.
